I love anything old and rusty, I love the rich color and texture of rust. This is a macro shot of a chained and padlocked gate that looks like it hasn’t been opened in years.
Life can be like this padlock, it can be hard yet it requires a key to open it to all its wonderful possibilities. I think the key to a wonderful life is to quell negativity (think positive), have a good laugh every day, to look for the beauty in everything and to love not only yourself but all god’s creatures and try to be thankful and enjoy every moment we have in this existence.

St John’s Cathedral. Why is there so much hate in the world, why is there so much anger? One of the hardest things to endure is to watch someone you love die before your eyes, without complaint, but cherishing every moment they have left. Yet there are others who can find nothing but fault in everything, even the most trivial and are quite vocal in their criticism. I truly feel sorry for those people as I don’t think they will ever be happy. I just wish they didn’t have to bring everyone else down with their bitterness. Dad, I miss you xoxo

I happened upon this whilst taking the dogs for a walk early one morning and lucky I had my camera with me at the time. It’s a torn fragment from a magazine partially covered by leaf litter. It struck a chord of sadness in me when I saw it.

The devil within

This is my current work in progress, still a long way to go on this one. This is the reason I’ve been so quiet lately though totally have my headspace in this latest piece.

This is a composite of a sunflower and an eye, replacing the iris of the eye with a reduced version of the sunflower, created in photoshop. Was fun.

Found this guy in the dog’s drinking water. Poor little dude couldn’t escape from the bucket, so I scooped him into a smaller bucket, took the pic and let him go. When I was younger, there used to be an abundance of green frogs, sadly I haven’t seen one in ages and ages, mainly cane toads. Hopefully I can get a shot of one soon.

This is one of the most amazing photos I have ever seen, the composition and lighting are absolutely perfect and I really wish I could claim to have taken it, however, sadly I didn’t. The photographer that took this amazing shot is a good friend of mine, Len Firewood and more of his work can be drooled over here http://lenfirewood.wordpress.com/

This is St John’s Cathedral in Brisbane, it was a gloriously sunny day when I visited and the light from all the stained glass windows created these wonderful colors.

This little gem was such a surprise, all I did to get this effect was to put some yellow cellophane paper over the flash which was rotated at about a 50 degree angle and used my trusty Nikon 105mm F2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR Micro lens.

This is an image I created in CS3 by using 2 stock images, the girl and the shark and creating the background of water and bubbles. I used about 3 different textures on the girl to create the scaly skin effect.

This is one of my 3 dogs, his name is Kelly and used to belong to my Dad. He is an Australian Cattle Dog or Blue Heeler and has the most gorgeous temperament. My constant shadow

I’m not sure what kind of fly this is, but he sat there long enough for me to get the shot before he took off, which was just after I clicked

Captured this image whilst wandering around the yard, luckily I had a teleconverter along with my macro lens because this little guy was about as big as a fingernail.

I would like to thank Alpha Inventions as I finally reached 3000 hits today in my blog and I am ecstatic. However, I do have one gripe and that is that the majority of people that appear to be using Alpha don’t seem to bother making any comments on other user’s blogs. Take a bit of time to actually look at the blogs going through the reading cycle and make a comment. It can be very rewarding and as I understand it, the spirit in which it was created, I have encountered some very warm people and hope to meet many, many more.
Anyway for those that do take the time to communicate, it’s a wonderful little community and you guys are great.
Cheers for now,
Malice
