Ungoliant

Ungoliant

This beasty huntsman was found in the back yard of my Dad’s place. A macro lens with a teleconverter can make it look like you’re really close, trust me I wasn’t.

Bandit

Bandit

This is one of Kelly’s daughters, Bandit, the hose you see her with she turned into a sprinkler. The way she is lying with her back legs out is exactly like her dad. She has gone to her new family now, I miss her terribly she is so sweet and full of fun.

Frog

Frog

Found this guy in the dog’s drinking water. Poor little dude couldn’t escape from the bucket, so I scooped him into a smaller bucket, took the pic and let him go. When I was younger, there used to be an abundance of green frogs, sadly I haven’t seen one in ages and ages, mainly cane toads. Hopefully I can get a shot of one soon.

Fireworks

Fireworks This little gem was such a surprise, all I did to get this effect was to put some yellow cellophane paper over the flash which was rotated at about a 50 degree angle and used my trusty Nikon 105mm F2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR Micro lens.

Lunch wrap

Lunch wrap
Captured this image whilst wandering around the yard, luckily I had a teleconverter along with my macro lens because this little guy was about as big as a fingernail.

Butcher bird

Butcher Bird with Takeaway
This little guy is a daily visitor to the kitchen window sill, he patiently waits till I put out some mince, or in this case some luncheon meat I bought especially for him. He has been coming for years for his morning and afternoon feed. Also each year they bring their babies along too, so not sure how many generations there are that come to visit. It’s wonderful to hear him sing to alert me of his presence :)

Natural Arch

Natural Arch Cave
I spent a long time in this cave, listening to the water and immersing myself in the beautiful surroundings. There are also glow worms in this little cave, however, it was still too light to see them.

Insey winsey spider ….

Huntsman YOu may not believe this, but I am absolutely terrified of spiders. All I can say is thank heavens for zoom lenses. I was suprised at the level of detail that came out with this dude, kind of makes him look all the more sinister.

Shake shake shake...
This little guy couldn’t resist the honey soaked bread I put out for him even with the rain.

Out of the gloom

Out of the gloom Not sure what flower this is, just one of the myriad that are growing in the back yard. As much as I love plants and flowers, I’m a shocking gardener and have a tendency to over water them :(

Pink on blue

Pink on Blue This is such a beautiful flower, I think it is called Christmas Cactus or something, correct me if I’m wrong. I absolutely love the light showing the delicacy of the petals.

Reach for the sky
Another macro shot with the contrasting colours of flower against blue sky. I love vibrancy of the colour.
